Nominations call for Warren Donnelly advisory committee
Released 11 Apr 2011
There are currently two vacancies for community representatives on the Warren Donnelly Water Advisory Committee and the Department of Water is calling for nominations from the people living or working in the catchments of the Warren River and Donnelly River to fill those positions.
The department's South West Regional Manager Wayne Tingey says the Warren Donnelly Water Advisory Committee plays an important role in advising the department in regard to surface water management within the Warren and Donnelly River catchments.
"The committee provides the department with advice in regard to surface water management and allocation planning within the Warren River and Donnelly River catchments," Mr Tingey said.
"The committee's current focus is on providing advice to the department with respect to allocation planning, particularly with the finalisation of the draft Warren-Donnelly surface water allocation plan.
Mr Tingey said committee members are expected to provide a conduit for the community to ensure that the department is aware of the community's views on water resource issues.
"Among their other duties, the members provide a community interface for engagement, extension and awareness in regard to Warren Donnelly water resource management issues, and support community consultation on water resource issues including regional, sub-regional and local area management plans where relevant."
Current community members on the committee are Diane Fry, Bob Pessotto, John Omodei and Norm Eaton.
