Land use planning overview
Water resource management advice
The Department of Water's land use planning program focuses on the implementation of integrated land and water planning.
This is the process by which decision-makers coordinate the consideration and implementation of water resource management requirements with other land use planning obligations, at various levels of the land use planning decision making process.
Water resource management advice is provided on a range of land planning and development proposals. These proposals are administered under legislation of the relevant government agencies, including but not limited to the Department of Planning, Department of Mines and Petroleum, Environmental Protection Authority, Department of Lands, Department of Environment and Regulation and local governments.
Clearance of subdivision conditions
In some circumstances, depending on the level of risk posed by a development, the department may request the Western Australian Planning Commission to apply one or more conditions of approval to the development.
For conditions to be cleared by the department, landowners or their consultants need to submit an application for the clearance of conditions including all supporting information to demonstrate that the requirements of the condition have been met.
