Regional Water Availability and Water for Pilbara Cities Groundwater Investigation Programs
As part of a $25 million Royalties for Regions scheme, the Department of Water is conducting extensive groundwater investigations throughout the state, from the Great Southern to the Kimberley.
The investigations, which are designed to help support regional development, started in 2012 and are now underway in the Dampier Peninsula, West Canning Basin, Hamersley Range, Murchison, South West and South Coast of Western Australia.
They focus on areas that have the potential to supply additional groundwater for drinking and household use, as well as for agriculture, mining and other industries that depend on water, which will ultimately help drive the state's growth.
