Waterwise council program
A drying climate in the south-west and increasing water demand due to population growth present significant challenges in how we manage and use our water resources sustainably. Local governments are considered substantial water users and due to their high profile in their communities they can be leaders in promoting efficient and effective water use.
The Waterwise Council Program, developed by the Department of Water and the Water Corporation, aims to build a cooperative working relationship with local governments to improve water use efficiency within council facilities, public open space and within the communities.
