DATA QUALITY
LINEAGE
Data collected from many different maps of various types and scales. Maps were chosen
on the basis of being 'best' for a particular region. All officially approved geographic
names are captured. Historical and colloquial names are captured and distinctly categorised.

POSITIONAL ACCURACY
Information is accurate according to the scale of original capture and to the nearest second.
Road names do not include geographical co-ordinates.

ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY
Attributes are taken from the official WA version of available information. A POPLN_CAT field
was added so that towns could be classified by population. Population for approximately 130 towns
came from the ABS 2001 Census report. The rest of the towns were classified by cross referencing
the town against the DLI Travellers Atlas 2003.

All available information verified manually at time of inclusion.

A - Major Town/City (>5000) : where the population for a town exceeds 5000 persons.
B - Town (>500) : where the population for a town exceeds 500 but is less than 5000.
C - Minor town : where the population for a town is below 500.
