Map Help

The i-delve mapping system allows real-time navigation of Western Australia. The frame on the left is the layer selector. It can specify which 'layers' to turn off and on. For instance, it is possible to turn the roads layer off if it is not neccesary to display it. Some layers can be expanded (denoted by a plus sign) so that only certain parts of that layer will be turned off/on.

The coloured square to the left of the Layer name is the selectability layer. If the selectability is turned off, that is the square is no longer coloured, then the layer will be displayed but cannot be selected.

Certain layers will only be displayed if the map is zoomed to the correct size. These layers will be greyed out in the layer selector frame. If this happens, zoom in or out until the layer becomes active.

The icons at bottom of the map are tools that can be used in the i-delve system.

I-delve Navigation: To pan around the map, hold down the left mouse button and drag in the desired direction. To zoom in/out, hold the right mouse button and move up (to zoom in) or down (to zoom out).

Regional Zoom In: Drag to create a rectangle or just click for a single point. Will zoom in to that region.

Regional Zoom Out: Left click to zoom out at that point.

Back: Go back to previously viewed area.

Full Extent Zoom: Zoom out to the furtherest extent the system will allow.

Forward: After using Back, it is possible to use Forward to move to navigate to other viewed areas.

Distance Measure: Measures the distance from point A to B. First, set up an initial point. Lines will then be drawn to subsequent points. The distance is given on the bottom right hand corner.

Coordinates: Displays the coordinates (longitude and latitude) at that point

Layer Selector: Turns the layer selector on/off. If it is turned off, it allows more of the map to be shown.

Map Overview: Turns the overview map on/off. The overview map displays where the current map screen is on Western Australia.

Reset: If any of the frames has been resized (e.g. If the map has been maximised), using this tool will bring back the page in its original state.
