Urban Drainage Summit 2007

On October 9, 2007, the Department of Water, together with project partners from the Department for Planning and Infrastructure, Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA), Western Australian Local Government Association and the Water Corporation, hosted the Urban Drainage Summit: Shifting Towards a Water Sensitive City.

Almost 200 scientists, planners, consultants, land developers and local and state government officers participated in the summit to explore solutions for three key urban drainage management issues:

  • Drainage funding mechanisms
  • Decision support tools
  • Integrated land and water planning

Guest speakers were drawn from government and the consulting industry, with a keynote address by Dr Rebekah Brown of Monash University.

The Department will work with stakeholder groups to further progress ideas from the summit.

The agenda for the summit, and each of the PowerPoint presentations used on the day, are shown below.
