Meter data

Validation of data

We are aware that some “results” from the metering trial have been seen as valid recordings of water usage, indicating that some licensees were over-using. However, some of the installed meters have been shown to be inaccurate.

As a result, we will release only data proven accurate.

The department's meter reading program does not absolve your responsibility of abiding to the terms and conditions of your licence. For example, conditions on the licence may specify that you are required to periodically read your meter and submit meter readings.

This meter reading schedule is not exclusive. The metering team may be required to perform extra meter reads in special circumstances.

Meters of an appropriate standard have been installed and read at regular intervals. We will use these records to assess actual usage at each bore site on each property and to validate the methods used for calculating water entitlements on water licences.

Metering Project Team has also started a meter maintenance program to inspect and service each meter to ensure they are operating satisfactorily and registering accurately.
