Water policy framework

The Water Policy Framework establishes a vision for water resources management in Western Australia to respond to contemporary issues and harness the best modern approaches in science and technology.

The vision is underpinned by seven overarching objectives designed to respond to the challenges of climate change and variability, resource scarcity and the increasing demand for water.

  • use and recycle water wisely
  • plan and manage water resources sustainably
  • invest in science, innovation and education
  • protect ecosystems, water quality and resources
  • enhance the security of water for the environment and use
  • develop water resources for a vibrant community
  • deliver services for strong and healthy communities
  • Formal written submissions
  • Feedback Forms (not for public release)
  • Attendance at Community Workshops held in May and June 2006 (summary report).

All input received during the period of public consultation has been analysed. Changes have been proposed to the Framework in the Draft State Water Plan released for consultation on 15 October 2006.
