Health and lifestyle

Good health and happiness are things we all aspire to. But achieving them isn't always as easy as it sounds. Balancing the demands of work with our lives outside can be difficult. Which is why we've created the corporate wellbeing program, Wellness Matters, to help you improve your health and wellness.

Wellness Matters is a comprehensive program designed to address your physical, emotional, spiritual, social, occupational and intellectual wellbeing, giving you the knowledge and support you need to improve your health and lifestyle, and that can only be a good thing, both for you and the Department of Water. The program includes:

  • health and lifestyle assessments, individual consultations, seminars, awareness campaigns and exercise programs
  • an occupational safety and health program
  • an employee assistance program
  • grievance counselling.

The Health and Lifestyle Program is an interactive program and all employees are encouraged to get involved and encourage others to do the same. This program is designed to be an enjoyable, motivating and positive experience, and is focused on increasing self awareness and improving your quality of life.

The voluntary program has been running successfully in both the Perth metro area and the regional offices throughout WA. According to the recent staff survey, approximately 75% of staff have taken part in the program and think it is effective in supporting its employees. The Health and Lifestyle Program has had a very positive impact culturally in the department.

The success and high staff participation is mainly due to the hard work and enthusiasm of the health and fitness consultants who encourage and support staff to embrace health and fitness and have a go at the various activities.
